Down the Road by Rachel Storm

Down the Road by Rachel Storm

Featured in The Coup: Wanderlust, Vol. 31 (2013)

Through the darkness travelled

Emery all alone

He had no friends to spare

No place to call his own

Drawn by the wind’s music

The boy set off down the road

Compelled ever forward

Propelled by haunting woes

Consumed by primal fire

Emery thought it would not cease

Then he came upon a light

And knew he had found peace

After all his efforts

He swore to stay alive

If not, his light would curse him

And fall to her demise

So he lived in wonder

Of what they said befell him

But they had no knowledge

He would not sink but swim
