If Only I Cared by Bri Roney

If Only I Cared by Bri Roney

Featured in The Coup: Wanderlust, Vol. 31 (2013)

The world may not continue to revolve,

Until all my petty little issues are resolved.

All I ever knew is falling apart.

Let me thank you one more time

For breaking my heart

What a gruesome way to feel;

This freaking nightmare’s too surreal.

And honestly,

You failed to see,

I’m not just a name

Or a liability.

Remember when I stood up and screamed for you?

Remember when I laid down and dreamed of you?

It meant nothing.

Nothing.

Remember when I held out my hand to you?

Said everything no one else would understand to you?

It meant nothing.

Nothing.

No one’s ever been that close to me.

That was the way we were supposed to be.

It wasn’t you and me;

It was us.

We were more than “together;”

We were one.

But I’m perfectly fine;

It’s the irrelevance that’s killing me.

Things from when you were mine,

Are now, sadly, trashy memories.

I’m a liar,

A filthy liar;

Can’t even keep my face straight.

And I’m tired,

So damn tired,

Of course feeling this way.

‘Cause you were my anchor,

And now that you’ve fallen,

You’re sinking me, baby,

In a watery coffin.

  1. I don’t know whether it’s just me or if perhaps everyone else encountering problems with your website.

    It appears like some of the written text within your posts are running off the screen. Can somebody else please provide feedback and let me know if this is
    happening to them too? This could be a issue with
    my web browser because I’ve had this happen before.

    Thank you

    • Hi Tyler, thank you for asking. I think I know what problem you’re talking about, because I’ve run into it several times when using the browser on my phone. If you are using your phone’s browser, it may be the software rather than the website.
